Can U2 save the world! The 360 tour! Part 1
Yes, this is an old picture of Bono. From the Zoo TV era, but for me this is my U2. Easily the greatest band of its generation. Legend has it that drummer Larry Mullen Jr. put out an ad on the Mount Temple High school’s board for musicians starting a band. Adam Clayton and Dave Evans ( The Edge) applied for the job. Bono and his friend arrived on a bike at Larry’s house and it changed everything. Their first gig was in Larry’s kitchen. And the rest as they say is Rock History! From the early beginnings at Dandelion market in the North side of Dublin to the Greatest rock tour (360 Tour 09/10) selling football stadiums worldwide – they are my lifelong love.
I first saw U2 in 1987, when in India, our old broadcaster Doordarshan, showed a live performance of the Grammy awards where they won Album of the Year. Even though the Fab Four had played on a rooftop, I was blown away with the “Streets” video. From the Joshua Tree album to what I think is the greatest album ever recorded – “Achtung Baby”! I have loved and cherished this bands music for over 20 years! And in July of 09 I finally saw them Live at Stade De France in Paris.
The 360 Tour has broken all touring records. A spectacular show with a space station in the middle of the field. Anyone who loves rock concerts and music should go see this show. They are back on tour this summer.
